Modules included on the release of vxVistA are Open Source (EPL License). The vxVistA Governance Committee will decide which modules are included in the vxVistA OS release. Changes to the core stack must be approved by the Committee. All changes accepted become open source.
vxCertified Modules
A project that has passed the Testing and Certification process qualifies for this category. Certification means that the governance/testing organization within the Community has deemed the project to be harmless to the OS Stack and database and to other Certified projects.
vxProjects
A project with a Project Leader and Development Team qualifies for this category. The project will remain in this status until the release passes the Testing/Certification process. ANY projects NOT yet classified as a vxCertified Module are to be used in testing and development environments only. Project releases are not recommended for production environments.
vxProposed Projects
A community member can propose a specific software enhancement to the community. If the community decides that this proposed project is a high priority need, then a project leader and development team needs to be identified. After completing both requirements, the Community Board will formally create this enhancement project within the vxVistA.org project tracking tool and list this as a vxProject.
