On Linux and Unix machines, there are two editors that are very commonly used

      by programmers.

The first, named emacs, usually isn't installed on the system,

but provides a huge number of utilities.  If you want to use emacs and get

Axiom-like capabilities, check out LorikeeM at https://github.com/CoherentLogic/lorikeem

The second, named vi is very commonly installed on the system. It is much

smaller than emacs, but still allows for add-on utiliities.  Axiom is one of those

utiliities, which makes MUMPS development quicker and more efficient.

Axiom provides a color processor that takes a simple MUMPS program in a

file ending with ".m" and marks the program code with colors based on the

meaning. This allows for quicker code understanding and readability.

Axiom also provides the ability to look at Global data in the MUMPS system

and moving from one routine to another one.

Axiom was written by David Wicksell of http://www.fourthwatchsoftware.com/

Axiom and instructions for installing it is available from https://github.com/dlwicksell/axiom
